Eurasia Department

The Department was founded on the 1st of January 1995. It arose fundamentally from the Institute's earlier activities in the research of pre- and ancient history. On the first of January 1996 it was combined with the former Tehran Department. It's research today is based on the region enclosed by the CIS states and the neighbouring countries to the South (Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China), from prehistoric times until Middle Ages.

Library

The library contains about 70,000 volumes. The collection focuses on Central and East European pre- and ancient history, archaeology of the CIS states and the Iran/Indus region.
