Public Relations

On the 28th of March the DAI Cairo presented itself on the Deutschlandtag, an event organised by the German Embassy in cooperation with the Goethe Institute on the occasion of the German Cultural Weeks 2009, which took place in the Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule in Cairo. The TV channel Deutsche Welle broadcasted live a top level panel discussion, which was, among others, attended by ambassador B. Erbel, information minister T. Kamel and the elected director of the DAIK, Prof. Dr. J. Seidlmayer. Many of the 1500 visitors passed by the booth of the DAI in order to catch up on the institute's activities and to collect some flyers, posters, calenders etc. A highlight was the hieroglyphic-course for kids, which was offered repeatedly in German and Arabic. Although the course aimed at imparting the complex writing system in a very short time, the children showed enduring interest. Due to the great success of the event a repetition is being discussed.
