The library's collection contains works in all subjects within the field of ancient history, including the most important supporting sciences. It holds about 30,000 volumes and 166 regularly published journals.

Further Activities and Projects
The financial support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation and the Elise and Annemarie Jacobi Foundation makes it possible for the Commission to advertise four times per year scholarships for graduate students to enable research stays for a duration of about three months at its library. Public Relations
Althistorische Institute in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Institutes of Ancient History in the Federal Republic of Germany) are catalogued annually in a directory. The Commission invites young scientists to a Colloquium each year with guest speakers. Employees of the Commission offer lecture courses about its work at the universities of Munich, Heidelberg and Regensburg.
