Editorial office

Staff members of the Department use the scientific journal and monographs to regularly publish information about excavations in progress and the results of scientific activities. While interim results and smaller studies are published in the periodical, the monographs are reserved for the final and summary documentation, analysis and interpretation. The in-house editorial team prepare the manuscripts for printing.
In addition to the periodical Madrider Mitteilungen that appears every year, the Madrid Department publishes three monographic series: Madrider Beiträge, Madrider Forschungen and Iberia Archaeologica. The five volumes of the series Hispania Antiqua present an overview of the entire archaeology of the Iberian Peninsula, from its beginnings to the early Middle Ages. The series of early studies on finds of animal bones from the Iberian Peninsula is dedicated to skeletal remains.
In addition, academic and scientific articles are published in periodicals both in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English, reflecting the collaboration with our Spanish, Portuguese and Moroccan colleagues.

A list of all publications can be found here in PDF format (01/2013).

Editorial activities

Authors who are interested in having their work published must please send their manuscripts to the directors of the Department as the editors of the publications. The manuscripts must be drafted in accordance with the guidelines for publications of the German Archaeological Institute. More information is available in the information leaflet of the Madrid editorial office.
