Library

Founded in 1954 in Madrid, the Department of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) has one of the most important archaeological research libraries on the Iberian Peninsula. Its collection focus is directed at the archaeology and related disciplines on the Iberian Peninsula and Morocco, from prehistory to the Islamic era.
The international scientific literature is available to scientists and students alike. By continuously expanding its collection, the reference library now contains about 70,000 volumes and more than 500 current periodicals. The total collection from 1997 can be searched and researched online (- ZENON -), while previous material is constantly being computerised. Workstations in the reading room also provide exclusive online access to numerous international scientific publications. For their research in the library users can obtain WLAN access.

The library of the former branch of the DAI in Lisbon (1971-1999) was handed over on permanent loan to the Instituto Portugues de Arqueologia, Palácio da Ajuda, Avenida da India 136, P - 1300-300 Lisbon Tel +351 / 213 616 500, Fax +351 / 213 616 559, where it is continued on the same scale.
