One of the events planned for the centenary of the Cairo Department is a special exhibition at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It will open on 19 November 2007 and is to last eight weeks. Objects will be shown from the following DAI Cairo excavation projects:

· Abu Mina

· Buto

· Maadi

· Abydos

· Dra' Abu el-Naga

· Elephantine

Most finds come from the magazines at the excavation sites and will be presented to the public for the first time at this special exhibition. The Cairo department would like to present its research work and the results from it to a broader public at the show, which will be both a retrospective of archaeological history and a glimpse of current projects.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that will be available in three languages: German, English and Arabic.
