Current Work

Various projects investigating the history of the city-involving both archaeological fieldwork and the study of architectural history-are now underway at this site, the excavation of which has long been entrusted to the German Archaeological Institute. The present work focuses principally upon the late classical and Hellenistic periods (4th -1st cent. BC) and addresses developments in late antiquity and the Middle Ages as well.

The projects fall under the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft's Schwerpunktprogramm "Hellenistische Polis" as well as Forschungscluster 3 and the Netzwerk der Abteilung Istanbul des DAI
