The Jahrbuch (JdI) of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) has been published annually since 1886 with comprehensive and ground-braking articles of fundamental importance for art history and stylistic studies, iconography, typology, hermeneutics, and the history of archaeological sciences, especially in Classical Archaeology, but in other archaeological disciplines, as well.

The chronological range encompasses Prehistory to Late Antiquity with a focus on the Graeco-Roman period; articles by archaeologists worldwide are welcome. Excavation reports, notices or reviews are not published in the Jahrbuch.

The editor of the Jahrbuch is the Central Department of the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin.

Guidelines for contributors to publications of the German Archaeological Institute are published in Archäologischer Anzeiger (AA) 2005/2, and are available on-line at the DAI homepage (Guidelines for Authors), which gives general information from the editor to contributors about the peer-review process and citation format, as well as information regarding the preparation, style, and submission of manuscripts.


Deadline for submissions and address

The deadline for submission of manuscripts for volume 124 (2009) of the Jahrbuch, which will be published in Summer, 2010, is May 1, 2009.
