The JdI contains comprehensive and fundamental contributions on the art history, iconography, typology, hermeneutics and history of science of classical archaeology and related archaeological disciplines.
The themes cover all periods from prehistory to Late Antiquity with an emphasis on the Greek-Roman period. The journal contains no excavation reports, news or book reviews.
