We emphatically support the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) in our shared solidarity with Ukraine. As archaeologists in Europe, we stand for saving lives and protecting cultural heritage in Ukraine.
We offer our assistance to our Ukrainian colleagues. We are convinced that research and academic relations and cultural contacts on a non-governmental level are now more important than ever.
Statement
The German Archaeological Institute has maintained intensive scientific contacts with Ukraine for a long time. Our unreserved solidarity goes out to the people in Ukraine, to our Ukrainian colleagues. We will continue and intensify our scientific cooperation and exchange with Ukraine.
We support the European Association of Archaeologists. We condemn Russia's war on Ukraine, which violates international law. We share the position of the Alliance of Science Organisations in Germany
For us, freedom of science and open scientific exchange are cornerstones of a peaceful world in which human rights are upheld and international law is respected. As members of the European scientific community, we share the respect for those scientists from Russia who are committed to peace and against the war against Ukraine.
