The volume begins with a diachronic study of the urban development and water management of the Aetolian settlement of Makyneia from the prehistoric to the Hellenistic periods, based on extensive rescue excavations.
This is followed by a material presentation of Wilhelm Dörpfeld’s 1901 excavation on the acropolis of Leukas. The analyzed pottery assemblages, kept in the Collection of the DAI Athens, demonstrate long-distance, interregional trade connections.
In the field of architectural research, a structural re-evaluation of the South Building at the Heraion of Samos offers compelling evidence for its identification as the sanctuary’s ancient odeion.
Another article focuses on the grave precincts of the Athenian Kerameikos, challenging the long-standing paradigm of widespread stone robbery in 338 B.C. and discussing instead an increased desire for monumental representation.
This is followed by a comprehensive functional analysis of fixed hearths in Cretan houses from the Classical to Hellenistic periods, offering new insights into daily household practices and spatial organization.
The volume concludes with studies from the Roman Imperial era. It features a find complex of Imperial female portraits from Chios (city), followed by an examination of a newly discovered oracle site of Paian in the Athenian Kerameikos, whose multiple inscriptions inside its well shafts provide valuable new data on ancient water cults.
