This workshop was held in Anuradhapura (Sri Lanka) from 10th to 14th August, co-organised in collaboration between the German Archaeological Institute (DAI – KAAK Bonn) and the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka.
It was led jointly by Dr. Johannes Moser (DAI), Dr. Nimal Perera (Department of Archaeology) and Dr. Shashi Mehra (Baroda University).
18 participants from different Sri Lankan institutions (Bhiksu University, Department of Archaeology, Central Cultural Fund, Jaffna University) joined the workshop.
The participants learnt how to identify and analyse stone tools, including on recently discovered artefacts, and had an opportunity to experiment knapping techniques on chert material. The workshop also included a visit to the prehistoric site of Nakolagane (Ambanpola).
