𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁!

The Cairo Department of the German Archaeological Institute proudly presents: „Reports from the Past. The G-Trenches in Tell el-Faraʿîn – Buto“ by Sabine A. Laemmel and Fernanda da Silva Lozada (MAPDAIK 6).

This two-volume free access publication presents the final results of the rescue excavations carried out in the G trenches at Buto (Tell el-Faraʿîn) during the 2001 and 2002 field seasons. Volume 1 focuses on the pottery from trenches G01–G04, documenting ceramic assemblages from the Saite and Persian Periods that are associated with large-scale storage activities and later disturbances during the early Ptolemaic Period. Volume 2 examines the ceramic assemblage and the human remains from an early Roman necropolis uncovered in trenches G05–G08. In addition to the pottery study, the volume includes a comprehensive catalogue of the burials with archaeological and anthropological data, providing new insights into funerary practices and population history in the western Nile Delta.
