The archives of the Baghdad branch office are maintained and supervised by staff at the Orient Department in Berlin.

The collection chiefly consists of the records of the department's own excavation projects (see the projects of the Orient Department). The scholarly legacies by Walter Andrae (partial legacy), Walter Bachmann, Helmut Bohtz, Arnold Nöldeke, and Heinrich Lenzen comprise relevant content linked to research in Iraq.
