Guest House

Profile

The RGK runs a guest house at Arndtstr. 21 in Frankfurt, which can accommodate up to eight scholars at a time. The guest house often serves for project meetings and workshops. Above all, however, it enables colleagues from Germany and abroad and especially junior researchers to stay for longer periods lasting up to 4 weeks so as to carry out their research at the RGK, in particular with respect the use of the library.
Especially in times of international crisis and conflict, the RGK has kept its principle of providing shelter and a place of exchange for refugee scholars. Particularly during the Cold War, the RGK and its guest house offered much appreciated accommodation for Eastern European colleagues, who thus saw themselves able to maintain international contact. But even today, the guest house is a significant starting point for new scholarly networks. Inviting scholars is therefore one of the RGK's essential tasks in its efforts to promote the national and international networking of archaeologists.
