Educational films for the documentation of finds

The Damascus branch and research unit of the DAI in Amman, presents two educational films on handling pottery on excavations on iDAI.tutorials. After the pandemic forced the cancellation of a summer school in Gadara/Umm Qays (Jordan) planned for 2021 to introduce students to ceramics processing, two educational films could be produced that show how to handle pottery sherds with the simplest of tools.
Students and anyone interested is shown how to draw and photograph sherds, using as little specialized equipment as possible. The educational films are available in German and Arabic and provide an insight into the handling of the material, which comes to light in large quantities on almost every excavation.
