Responsibilities and members

The responsibility of the Advisory Committee on Historical Monuments is to provide expert appraisal of restoration projects at DAI excavations in respect of the conservation plan, the technology envisaged, the safety, feasibility and even the actual need for given conservation measures, as well as their prioritization relative to other projects to be carried out by the Institute. The committee confers with those responsible for planning and implementation, and makes recommendations. Should it be necessary, individual committee members can visit sites. The committee takes cognizance of reports about measures under its supervision and sees to the proper publication of the projects.

All excavation directors submit their restoration projects on historical monument to the committee for discussion. Meetings of the Advisory Committee on Historical Monuments are held once a year. Coordination of the meetings is the responsibility of the Architecture Section at Head Office. They are chaired by the section head with a seat on the Zentraldirektion.
