DAI offers students the opportunity to gain professional and academic experience as student assistants. The assistantships are designed to accommodate the students' course load and serve as a first step into an academic/scientific career. Student assistants at DAI may work in the service departments of our respective departments/commissions or at our excavation sites. DAI offers students numerous fascinating opportunities to gain first practical research insights in addition to their normal curriculum.
Approximately 230 student and research assistant are currently working in DAI departments/commissions and at our excavation sites. The remuneration model for assistants is based on their degree and the DAI guidelines of January 1st, 2009. Assistants employed at DAI subsidiary institutes outside of Germany receive an expatriation allowance; assistant employed at excavation sites are paid a fixed rate for travel expenses. Room and board are provided free of charge.
